Optician
Duties and
responsibilities:
Opticians work on the front lines of vision
care. They are one of the most important members of the eye care team because
of their direct interaction with customers. Customer loyalty is often won or
lost based on how well the frame selection and eye wear fitting process goes.
All optical employers should consider including a requirement for sociable
personality traits in the optician job description. Character qualities that
customers and coworkers enjoy being around are absolutely essential to a
successful career as an optician.
Education:
While there are no specific educational
requirements for an optician, a 2-year associate degree or 4-year bachelor
degree in optcianry may offer a competitive advantage. Optcianry courses
educate students in the anatomy and physiology of the human eye, optical
fundamentals and refraction. Through clinical training, students also have
opportunities to learn about polishing, hand beveling, heat treatment, tinting
and fitting glasses.
Reflection:
Well I wouldn’t
want to be an optician because its working with the eyes and I wouldn’t want to
mess up and do something wrong I know you have to study for that not to happen
but still I wouldn’t want to be one.
