Student Success Statement
“Obedience is central to becoming, being, and remaining happy.”
David A. Bednar
Reflection:

In this class I learned that you won’t be happy if you have a bad conscious. So yeah you won’t be a happy person if you know you’re doing things you don’t have to. Some people have all the money in the world and they think that having money is everything when things aren’t like that, why is it that billionaires end up killing themselves even though they have all the money in the world? Same thing it’s because they don’t have a clean conscious! Nothing will make you feel good than just doing the right thing because you can’t buy what you have to do!! The right.
Life goals

Well I have seen an improvement in my goals. I read at least 3 min each day and if I forget by the night I already read them. Every time I achieve my goals I highlight them to know what I did and what I need to work on. I will promise myself to read my goals all my life and keep adding more and more.
Class Reflection

Well I did like this class and I really enjoyed it. I learned new things and I had fun. I also like this class because we learned a lot about the medical field and what kind of degrees there is and the requirements you need in order to become what you want to be. What I dislike about this class was that we would do a lot of work and do the student success statement I really didn’t like that especially what we thought about the statement. Well I think I wouldn’t recommend anything to the class because everything that we did was for a reason and we liked it or not it helped us a lot. What I will always remember to do that this class taught be is to always choose the right.

“Obedience is the great test of life.”
Thomas S. Monson
Reflection:
I think this quote is really true because to be obedient takes lots of courage and responsibilities. Why? Because not anyone is obedient and yeah maybe you won’t be as popular but it’s worth it for an example if they are telling you to do something bad in school they might pick on you for not doing it but you are doing the right thing so it shouldn’t matter.
Neurologist
Duties and responsibilities:

A Neurologist is a specialized physician who takes care of the nervous system and the brain. The Neurologist job description is an interesting one because Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Physicians specializing in the field of neurology are called neurologists and are trained to diagnose, treat, and manage patients with neurological disorders.

Salary: $350,000

Education:

Formal education and training requirements for physicians are among the most demanding of any occupation—4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of medical school, and 3 to 8 years of internship and residency, depending on the specialty selected. A few medical schools offer combined undergraduate and medical school programs that last 6 rather than the customary 8 years.
Reflection:

Well this is a really great career that has lots of responsibilities. I think I wouldn’t want to be a neurologist because I would be really scared to work in that, especially because it has to do with the brain the most important part of your body.

“Obedience… Is the primary object of all sound education.”
Elizabeth Missing Sewell

Reflection:

I think this is true because if you want a good education you need to follow all rules and be obedient. You can’t be successful in life if you don’t listen to others comments and opinions. Some people think it’s better to be on their own but they don’t know is that all the people that have been successful in life listen to others and help each other.

“The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have.”

Reflection:

I don’t agree with this statement because the government doesn’t care if you do right or wrong they just want money. They aren’t really on your side because they really don’t care what you think. Most people in this country are loyal and do the best they can. They pay their taxes they aren’t criminals, but yet they get treated unfairly. Not only the US citizens but people that come to this country for a better life they get treated really badly. They don’t have to get deported because they haven’t done anything wrong.
Obedience
Definition: compliance with an order, request, or law or submission to another's authority.

Synonyms: duty, deference, compliance, acquiescence, tractability, amenability

Reflection:

According to what the internet says obedience is following the rules that someone else tells you and doing what they are asking you to do. It doesn’t necessary have to be a person older than you but just listening to instructions.
Military Medical Careers

Duties and responsibilities:

Each branch of the military has different needs and entrance requirements for medical professionals. However, one requirement all four military branches share is the physical health standards. Additionally, you would have to pass physical fitness tests and endurance tests as well. The standards do vary slightly amongst the branches, but generally the requirements are very strict.

Salary: $27,000

Education:

While there are some medical careers available without a college degree, most of the more advanced, lucrative careers require many years of graduate and post-graduate education and training. Learn more about the various degree programs available, and how to navigate the educational process.

Reflection:

I think I wouldn’t want to be a military medical careers because it takes lots of responsibility.

Harmful Effects and Consequences of Drug Abuse

You destroy your family your friends and even yourself. You destroy the lives of the people that surround you. Drugs lie, they make you think that’s it’s the best way out when it’s not. All it does is make you get worst. They start doing things to get those drugs, for example steel money from their parents. You are the only one that can change yourself because no matter how much people encourage you to change if you don’t want to change you wont change. Drugs will change your life. You can have a family now and you get along better with your loved ones.

Reflection:

This video makes people that do drugs think a little more. Some people don’t know the damage that they do to others specially the people that care for you and are always there for you in other words your parents. Make better choices in life and you will be a better person.

“Courage is being scared to death and doing the right thing anyway.”
Chae Richardson
Reflection:

Well it takes lots of courage to do the right thing because most people will judge you for being different than others. Most people now a days expect you to be like them or than they will judge you. It’s better to be yourself no matter what they say or do because you want to be different and prove them wrong. Lead yourself and don’t let other people lead you.

                              Student success statement

Reflection:
This statement is very true and it has a strong meaning to it because it can paint any color of the situation. I think that your attitude describes what you really are because that you can’t fake it from no one. Some people might pretend they are someone else by their attitude but at the end of the day you will find out.

                                          Attitude

Definition:

A settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person's behavior.

Synonyms:

View, viewpoint, outlook, perspective, stance, standpoint, position, inclination, temper, orientation, approach, reaction.

My opinion:

I think you need to have a bad attitude when its necessary because you need to have a hard attitude when it comes to being strict to someone for an example if you’re a manager of your company you need to be hard on them and be a nice person at the same time

I wouldn't want to be a periodontist because I don’t find it very interesting even though it’s a good job.

“He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.”
A Proverb
Reflection:

Most people believe this and I agree with it because most likely if you have a bad influence you will end up doing what they do. In my opinion I think it’s up to each one of us to choose their path and choose whether they want to be winners of failures. People will always tell you to hang out with the best people and not to get involved with the not so great ones, I think it shouldn't really matter and that it will be best if you don’t hang around with the wrong crowd but it’s also not bad hanging out with the bad one because at the end of the day they won’t force you to do the things they do but you will choose what you will do because you might look really good but when your alone you make your own choices.

In an entry level job one will learn how to do simple tasks like pouring plaster into an impression a dentist has made of a patient's teeth. As one progresses, he or she will learn how to make crowns and dentures.

Reflection:

I think I wouldn’t want to be a dental technician because I don’t find it interesting.

You don’t always get what you wish for, but you will always get what you work for

Student Success Statement
“You can’t hire someone else to do your push-ups for you.”
Jim Rohn
Reflection:
This statement is very true because the success you want can only succeed if you accomplish it, you can’t tell someone else to it for you or else it won’t be you success no more. People always told me the harder you work the more result you will see. They also told me that the lazy person always works double so might as well do things right the first time. For an example if you want to be a doctor might as well take all the years you need and don’t go to those programs that offer you a career in just 8 months. You also cant make other people study for you if you ant to become a doctor. Work hard for what you really like and there will be a good payback.

Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon

Duties and responsibilities:

Ear, nose, and throat specialists, also known as Otolaryngologists or ENT specialists, are medical doctors responsible for surgical and medical treatment of the ears, nose, and throat, as well as the related head and neck areas. Specialized skills of Otolaryngologists include managing disorders of the upper pharynx and oral cavity, larynx (voice box), ears, nose and nasal passage, and face and neck. Almost all ENT specialists regularly handle cases like nosebleeds, Adenoidectomies, infected mastoids, tonsillectomies, and sinusitis.

Salary: $205,000 per year

Education:

At least five years of surgical residency. Students wishing to start their career as otolaryngologists could study advanced science and math while in high school. Not all medical institutes require a bachelor’s degree for admission. After residency, candidates can choose to pursue an advanced subspecialty fellowship that lasts from one to two years.

Reflection:

I think I wouldn’t want to be an ENT because it’s working with very delicate parts of the body and would be scared to mess up that part of the body and it takes lots of hard work. They get paid well but it’s a risky job that if you make a mistake you can get fired.

                                        Integrity
Today we watched a video of the president Abraham Lincoln and how he was loyal and kept a promise. He was tempted by something that would break a promise he had made many years with his mother. One day his mother was really sick and they had told her that she wouldn’t get well so her mother told Lincoln that to promise her he won’t ever drink whisky or smoke tobacco and he did. Many years had passed sense that promise and one day he went for a ride with the colonel and he offered him a whisky and he said “No coronel thanks,” on the road the coronel offered a cigarette and Lincoln said, “No coronel let me tell you a story first and then you can ask me again,” so he told him the story. The coronel told him that he won’t ask him a question that would break his promise to his mother ever again. He showed integrity

“Kindness is the essence of greatness.”
                                                   Joseph B. Wirthlin
Reflection:

This quote states that kindness is the essence of greatness, this means that if you do good things, good things will happen to you. It is important to do good things to others because you don’t want to be known as a bad person, you want to be known as the good person. Whatever you do comes back to you. Sometimes it’s not all about trying to receive something in return but to know what is right and doing it. Some people have all the money in the world and pretend they are happy when they aren’t. Life isn’t just about having and having it’s about giving to other that most needed. If you have money that’s great but you will feel even better if you give to others and that I will guarantee you will feel great.

“Action is the foundational key to all success.”

Reflection:

If you act on it you will achieve it. With no action you won’t know how things turn out. For an example Cesar Chavez had a dream and that dream was that everyone including farm workers should be treated equal and he took action on it. He started on his own and a couple of people and ended up with the president of the United States. If you put your hard work into it and all dedication you will achieve it.

“There is no giant step that does it. It’s a lot a little steps.”
                                                  Anon
Reflection:

I think what this statement is typing to say is that doing take things too fast because they won’t work out. If you take your time the better things are going to end up. For an example if you’re in a relationship with someone, try to get them to know you good and you meet them good so when you guys try living together you know more things about each other and not make it so hard. Don’t take things too fast and try getting married with that person the month you got with him/her, take your time and things will turn out to come out better than you thought.
                       Recreation Therapist

Duties and responsibilities:
Recreational therapists plan, direct, and coordinate recreation-based treatment programs for people with disabilities, injuries, or illnesses. I think I wouldn’t want to be a recreation therapist because I’m not really interested in being one. I don’t like working with people who are diabetic, I think I would want to work in something else.

“Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and       wrong, even if everyone is for it.”
William Penn
Reflection:

This statement is trying to say that most of the people will choose what’s wrong but our job is not to do what others think it’s good but to think for ourselves on what is really right. Some people think that by doing the wrong thing they will be like others, that’s just trying to be someone you’re not. It’s very hard to be different than others because there is a chance they might treat you different. Do what you think is right not what others tell you to do.
                               Thoracic Surgeon

Duties and responsibilities:
A doctor guides small robotic arms through several tiny keyhole incisions. This allows for greater range of movement than a doctor's hand. Specializing in surgical procedures related to the chest, thoracic surgeons are some of the remarkably few people who can say they have held someone's heart in their hands -- literally. These medical professionals undergo many years of education and rigorous training to prepare them for a career in the operating room -- often working long, irregular hours on their feet. A thoracic surgeon's job is far from easy, but the career may appeal to those who enjoy helping others and love working under pressure.

Salary: $350,000

Education:

Becoming a thoracic surgeon requires 13 to 16 years of education and training, beginning with a bachelor's degree. Students may pursue a degree in any area they desire, though premedical studies and biology are the most commonly chosen. After earning a bachelor's degree, students go on to attend medical school, which involves another four years of education. The first two years of medical school are usually devoted to laboratory and classroom instruction, while the final two years are spent completing clinical rotations in common medical specialties. Upon finishing medical school, aspiring thoracic surgeons enter a five-year residency program in general surgery, followed by a year-long residency in cardiographs surgery.

Reflection:

I think I would want to be a thoracic surgeon because they get to operate and they get paid really well. They need 14 years od study and that takes lots of dedication.

Cowardice asks the question ‘Is it safe?’
Expediency asks the question ‘Is it politic?’
Vanity asks the question ’Is it popular?’

But, Conscience asks the question, ‘Is it RIGHT?’  and there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor population, but one must take it because one’s conscience tells one that is right.

Reflection:

This quote has so many things I can talk about. Cowardice will always ask if it’s safe. Most of the time we don’t really care if it’s safe or not and we just do it. Expediency, will always ask if it’s political or not. Most people don’t even care if it’s political. Now a day people do what they believe is right and they don’t sit down and think if it’s the best thing to do. Vanity is one of the big ones because at this time it’s all about looking right for others and do what others do that’s why it will always ask ‘If its popular?’. People prefer to see other people satisfied on the things they do. For an example, you go to school and you are an okay student but you star hanging out with the wrong crowd, most chances are you will start doing what they’re doing because nor you want to feel left out or they keep telling you to do bad things with them. The only one that will end up bad is you not them. When your all grown their won’t pay your rent or pay your bills right?? No they won’t because a true friend wouldn’t tell you to do bad things like smoke. Conscience is the best thing because that will ask you ‘Is it right?’ that’s the best question because you get to think what’s right.

I think this statement is saying the truth because you have to believe in order to do things. Some people don’t make the best decisions in life but they try to get back on their feel and achieve. If you believe you will do it. If you do what’s right. Right things are going to happen, nut if you don’t make the best choices you won’t get very far and be ashamed of yourself.

“The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon:
 Self-respect, dignity, integrity, and self-esteem.”
                 Dr.Laura Schlessinger
Reflection:

This quote is very true because you need to have respect for yourself and have dignity, without that you won’t get very far.  To have integrity is to be honest and have ethical principles. Self-esteem is a term used in psychology to reflect person's overall emotional evaluation of his or her own worth.
